South Korea

SOUTH KOREA: Republic of Korea

The flag of South Korea, called the Taegukgi, represents balance and harmony through its central red and blue yin-yang symbol, known as the taeguk. The white background symbolizes peace and purity, reflecting the country’s traditional values. The four black trigrams in each corner come from the I Ching and represent elements like heaven, earth, fire, and water.

FOOD.
Korean cuisine is known for its bold, balanced flavors featuring ingredients like garlic, chili, sesame oil, and fermented foods. Staples include dishes such as kimchi, bibimbap, and bulgogi, often served with a variety of small side dishes called banchan. It’s also heavily centered around rice, vegetables, and fermented elements that support both flavor and health.

Which of these are your favorite? Most of these foods are found in restaurants and supermarkets on Guam!

Here are my top 3 favorites! Bingsu are great to share with friends especially with Guam's humid and hot weather.

  1. I like how you brought your personal experience to your topic. I visited for the first time during Easter break this year. Absolutely love the food. And I totally dressed up in the male hanbok; probably the most fun I had during the trip!
